Chainlink launched Chainlink 24/7 at its Link:NYC event on October 29, a pricing service for tokenized equities, commodities and other real-world assets that keeps publishing through weekends and market holidays. Aave is the launch partner.

How It Works

During traditional market sessions the service uses Chainlink's existing 24/5 data, which already covers pre-market, post-market and overnight trading. When traditional markets are fully closed, it switches to aggregated quotes from multiple perpetual futures venues, according to TokenPost and The Defiant. Those off-hours prices reflect trading in derivatives linked to the asset. They are not live quotes from a closed stock exchange.

The data reaches applications two ways: Data Feeds publish prices onchain for lending protocols, and Data Streams supply lower-latency reports to trading platforms. Chainlink says the service is meant for prediction markets and perpetual futures that trade around the clock, lending protocols that manage tokenized collateral when exchanges close, and investors managing position risk outside market hours.

Aave as First Adopter

Aave is using the feeds to price tokenized collateral on Horizon, its institutional lending platform, starting with major US equities, per The Defiant. Aave said the pricing is coming soon to stock-backed loans, so it is an adoption announcement rather than a live lending product. We have not seen collateral parameters or a launch date in the coverage we reviewed.

Why the Weekend Gap Matters

We wrote earlier about the problem this addresses: a tokenized stock can trade on a blockchain all weekend while its underlying market is closed, leaving collateral with no fresh reference price (the weekend price feed gap). Chainlink 24/7 replaces “no price” with a derivatives-based price.

RWAToday analysis: that is a real improvement over a stale Friday close, but it moves the question rather than closing it. A lender relying on a perpetual-futures reference is exposed to how closely those prices track where the stock opens on Monday, and we have not seen that measured in the coverage reviewed. Chainlink's own documentation, as summarized by crypto.news, cautions that risks differ outside regular sessions. Treat it as a better input, not a guarantee.

Hanwha and DTCC Connections

On October 30, South Korea's Hanwha Investment & Securities announced a strategic partnership with Chainlink, adopting its data standard and CCIP as the data and interoperability infrastructure for a global tokenization platform. The firm said it plans to build infrastructure for issuing and distributing real-world assets and using them as collateral, and to work out standards for that use under South Korea's tokenized securities framework.

The launch also landed a day after DTCC's go-live. DTCC CEO Frank La Salla appeared with Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov at Link:NYC, Chainlink says its technology powered DTCC's July trials alongside more than 30 institutions, and TokenPost reports DTCC's planned Collateral AppChain is being built with Chainlink for round-the-clock collateral management (DTCC launch). Bitbase also reports that the CFTC plans a December 15 roundtable on continuous trading in derivatives markets.
