Twelve months ago, the XRP Ledger held approximately $150 million in tokenized real-world assets. As of July 7, 2026, that figure has grown to more than $4 billion. More than 500 products now live on XRPL, with the Ondo Short-Term Government Bond Fund and JMWH leading the category at approximately $2.5 billion in combined value.

That is a roughly 26x increase in twelve months — one of the fastest growth rates of any blockchain network in the RWA category. The growth did not happen by accident, and understanding how it happened tells a specific story about what makes a blockchain network succeed as RWA infrastructure.

The Cross-Border Settlement That Changed the Conversation

The single most significant event in XRPL's RWA story this year was a cross-border tokenized Treasury settlement that involved JPMorgan, Ripple, Mastercard, and Ondo Finance — four institutions operating on three continents, settling a transaction involving a tokenized US Treasury instrument on the XRP Ledger.

The settlement completed in approximately four seconds.

For context: cross-border institutional settlements typically require correspondent banking relationships, SWIFT messaging, and settlement windows measured in days. The same transaction on XRPL took four seconds with full settlement finality. This is not a marginal improvement. It is a structural transformation of what cross-border financial settlement looks like.

The involvement of JPMorgan — historically among the more cautious major banks on public blockchain infrastructure — alongside Ripple, Mastercard, and Ondo Finance signals a coalition of institutional credibility that is difficult to dismiss. These are not blockchain-native companies proving a concept to each other. They are four systemically significant financial institutions executing a production transaction.

Why XRPL for RWA?

Ripple has been building specifically for institutional financial applications since its founding. The XRP Ledger was designed with settlement finality and compliance considerations in mind — characteristics that matter enormously for regulated financial institutions choosing blockchain infrastructure. Its decentralized exchange (DEX) is native to the protocol, not a third-party application. Its Automated Market Maker (AMM) was added through a governance upgrade in early 2024.

The XRPL also has specific technical features that RWA issuers value: native support for issued currencies (on-chain representations of any asset), built-in escrow for conditional settlement, and a regulated-friendly architecture that has attracted banks and financial institutions despite — or because of — being less DeFi-native than Ethereum or Solana.

Ripple's $10 million commitment to tokenized US Treasury bills on the XRP Ledger in 2025 was an early signal. Ondo Finance's deployment of its Short-Term Government Bond Fund on XRPL was the institutional validation. JPMorgan's participation in the cross-border settlement test was the production proof.

XRP ETF Inflows — The Parallel Story

Evernorth Holdings, which tracks XRP treasury flows, reports that spot XRP ETF inflows have now run for eight consecutive weeks of net positive flows — one of the longest sustained inflow streaks among US crypto ETFs, ahead of both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF inflow consistency over the same period.

The connection between XRPL's growing RWA adoption and XRP ETF inflows is not a direct causal relationship — XRP ETF buyers are not necessarily tracking XRPL RWA volume. But the institutional credibility that comes from JPMorgan executing production transactions on the network is not entirely separate from the investment thesis that drives ETF inflows. Both reflect growing institutional recognition that XRPL's infrastructure has demonstrated genuine production utility.

The Multi-Chain Reality

XRPL's $4 billion in tokenized RWAs does not exist in competition with Ethereum's RWA ecosystem or Solana's or Avalanche's. The multi-chain reality of RWA tokenization means the same underlying asset class is growing simultaneously on multiple networks, each with different technical characteristics, regulatory relationships, and institutional partnerships.

Franklin Templeton's BENJI runs on nine chains. BlackRock's BUIDL runs on eight. The institutions deploying tokenized assets are deliberately multi-chain — they are not placing bets on a single network winning. XRPL's growth from $150 million to $4 billion is happening alongside, not instead of, equivalent growth on other networks.
